Why do I need cookies enabled?

We use cookies on the parcelinfo.com site to enable your browser to keep track of what data you are looking at. The cookies tell our server which county's data you are searching, which parcels you are searching, etc. We do not store any user information about your visit, or use it in any other way. Our cookie information is completely harmless. Cookeis in general are quite harmless, despite the scare tactics that some security software vendors like to portray. Who operates/maintains the ParcelInfo site?

The parcelInfo system is run by Minnesota Counties Information Systems (MCIS), located in Grand Rapids, MN. Boreal Access, located in Grand Marais, MN, provides hosting and maintenance of the site code.

Each participating county is responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of their data sets. You can check the timeliness of the data set by looking at the "data dates" in the upper right corner of each screen. MCIS bears no responsibility for the accuracy of county data, it merely converts the data into a searchable, web friendly format.

Where can I get more information about a parcel (zoning, tax status, lot size, maps, etc)?

If you are looking for more information about a parcel than what you see here on the ParcelInfo system, you will have to contact the appropriate department in the respective county offices. The links below will provide you with shortcuts to the "department" listings of the participating counties:

Why isn't a parcel that I am looking for listed on this site?

There may be various reasons that a parcel does not show up in the ParcelInfo database. First, if it is a new parcel, it may not yet be in the current database. Second, if the parcel is tax exempt, it may not show up because most counties do not list tax exempt parcels. Third, since the database contains taxable parcels, most municipal, county, state and federal parcels may not show up in the database.

If you are sure that the parcel should show up in the database, please contact the respective county assessor or auditor to find out how to locate it or learn more about its status.

I have questions about importing ParcelInfo data into my spreadsheet programs and/or other software questions.

How do I import search results into a spreadsheet program?
Method 1: click the "download this data" button in the search results table. This will save your results as a comma separated value (CSV) format file. Most spreadsheet programs can import this data directly (just open the file from your spreadsheet program).

Method 2: Just copy and paste the data that you want directly into your spreadsheet program.
What spreadsheet programs are supported?
The ParcelInfo system exports its data in standard formats that any spreadsheet can use. We recommend the free and highly acclaimed OpenOffice.org as an office suite, but programs such as Excel, Quatro Pro, Lotus 123, MS Works will do the job too.
Do you provide templates for creating mailing labels?
We do not currently provide templates for mailing labels, since the templates are pretty specific to the brand of word processor that you use.
What web browswer is required for ParcelInfo?
All browsers support the internet, and this internet site supports all browsers. Parcelinfo.com works great with Firefox, Opera, Chrome, Safari, Internet Explorer and other browsers.
